The school first opened in 1790 and was known as school district 93. The one room school, last used as Mom's store, was originally constructed in 1831 and remodeled in 1871. In 1831 the building was constructed on a stone foundation with dimensions of 20X23 feet.

The Board of Trustees back in 1820 consisted of Henry Trimmer, Amos Sutton, Jacob Moore, Gwig Buchanan, and Isaac Huffman.

The oldest record of a teacher found was Morgan Vanderbilt who taught in 1867. At that time parents had to pay tuition fees. A former teacher, Paul A Queen and a former pupil of this school became county judges, serving for years. The pupil was Adam O. Robbins, who lived in the Half-Way House, and old stage coach stop.

At the first SandBrook school reunion which was held August 18, 1934, Mary Gray of Flemington was the oldest teacher present. She taught school there in 1880, Justus Moore of Flemington, at the age of 86, was the oldest pupil present.

At an auction the school building was sold for $400.00. After that "Mom's Store" was in the school building and that store closed on July 1, 1969.
